Sally the Tortoise
I gave Sally her first bath today, she's been drinking a lot and has just started to eat and is now running around the living room. It's still a bit too cold to put her out into her 'castle' yet. I call her hutch a 'castle' as my husband bought in his own words... 'a small rabbit hutch I'm going to convert into a house for her'. My husband is terrible at measuring things and when the hutch was delivered it was two times bigger than he thought, so Sally now has a very large two story house complete with stairs.
Amigurumi Bunny
I haven't been blogging for the last couple of weeks as I have been ill with tonsilitis and then a bug. It hasn't stopped me from crocheting. I decided I wanted to try something a little different and had a go at the Japanese art of crocheting a stuffed animal, an Amigurumi and as it is spring time, I thought it would have to be a little bunny. Once I got the hang of it, it wasn't too difficult. I used Drops Merino 4 ply wool, they have some wonderful colours in this range, nice and bright. I also used my ergonomic Addi 2.5 hook.
As added extras I crocheted a little red bow and a pale yellow scarf with a tiny red button. I used two different colour brown embroidery silks from my stash for the eyes and nose, the material I used for the ears and feet was from a Clarke & Clarke fabric swatch.
The crochet pattern I used was from a blog called All About Ami, it's a fabulous blog for Amigurumi, I spent hours looking through it. The blog is written by a woman called Stephanie, she has had her work featured in a lot of magazines and is kind enough to post her patterns for free.
